Welcome to Nipper's Place
The Site for Classic RCA Records Artists!
NEW: we have added our new Amazon-powered shop called The Nipper Store to our site! While the store is currently under construction, you can still search for many classic RCA recordings in the Store. Initially, we have categories set up by search terms in our store--you may search within our categories to find whatever you're seeking. In the near future, we will be populating the store with hand-picked selections and recommendations, and for Henry Mancini, we will also be featuring a selection of DVDs that feature films or television shows that Mancini has scored! Our Living Stereo SACD section is all hand-picked, however, and represents an excellent value for the quality you receive. Shop our Nipper Store, and support our site!
Thanks to everyone for their patronage of our various websites over the years! And welcome to the home of Hank's Place and the ever-popular Esquivel pages! This site will devote itself to classic RCA recordings, starting from the beginning (waaaay back to the days of shellac 78 RPM discs), up through the 70's. We probably won't touch on much, if any, rock or Top 40 recordings here (no Elvis, IOW), but we'll mainly focus on the jazz and instrumental recordings of RCA's golden era. We also welcome classical discussions, especially pertaining to the LiViNg StErEo "Shaded Dog" LPs that are still coveted by collectors today!
As with the other websites, we hope to include a discography and brief history of each artist, along with a gallery of images. If you would like to volunteer to help enter items into our discography, contact RUDY via the Forum. At this time, I've only transfered over existing (and rather outdated) pages that I've had buried on rudyscorner.com. A small sampling of the artists we'd like to feature here includes Henry Mancini, Esquivel, Harry Belafonte, Shorty Rogers, Al Hirt, Perez Prado, Tito Puente and many others!
If you're coming here from Hank's Place or the Esquivel! pages, you may also notice that we now have new forum software. Due to some continuing problems with WebBBS, we've migrated to a more robust messaging product. The new one is database powered and also has other features we've been looking at for some time. Take a moment to register yourself with the forum, and we'll see you there! If you have any problems using the forum or the website, post a message in our "Help" forum and we'll assist you.
Links to major areas of our website will be features in the menu bars located at the top and bottom of each screen. And one final warning: the dust is still settling after our move, so don't blame the janitor if a photo is missing or a link has gone haywire! ;-) Report it to me in the "Help" forum and I'll add it to my list.
Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy!!
